Hurricanes and summer storms come with living in the Cape Fear region. We help before, during and after: fans and lights come down ahead of the wind, backup power carries the house, and we check the system when it is over.
Before the storm
- outdoor fans and lights that could blow loose taken down
- generator hookups and transfer equipment checked
- surge protection in place at the panel
Through the outage
A standby generator and transfer switch carry the house on their own. A surge protector at the panel guards your equipment when the power comes back.
After the storm
We put fans and lights back up, then check and repair what the storm damaged. If water reached your panel, outlets or equipment, leave it off until a licensed electrician has looked at it.
Where we do this work
Across New Hanover, Pender and Brunswick counties, including Wilmington, Castle Hayne, Hampstead, Leland, Carolina Beach. See the full service area.

Quick answers
Will you take down my porch fans before a hurricane?
Yes. Hofer Electrical takes down fans and lights that could blow loose before a storm, then puts them back up once it passes.
What should I do if electrical equipment got wet in a flood?
Keep it off. Do not reset breakers or turn on equipment that has been under water. Have a licensed electrician inspect it first, and stay away from any downed lines.
When should I call about storm prep?
Early. Once a storm is named, demand rises fast, so call as soon as you know you want the work done.
