Quick answers
What does a hot tub need electrically?
Most hard-wired hot tubs need a dedicated 240 volt circuit with GFCI protection and a disconnect within sight of the tub, set back from the water. Plug-in models are different, so check the manual.
Does hot tub wiring need a permit?
Generally yes. Hot tubs and pool equipment usually need an electrical permit and an inspection.
Can my panel handle a hot tub?
A load calculation answers that. Some homes need a subpanel or a panel upgrade first.
